Sarah Alexander
I’m Sarah, a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. I work directly with students to carry out speech and language goals designed by the Speech Pathologist. I love making speech fun through engaging games, crafts, and activities that are personalized to each student. I bring years of experience supporting children of all ages and stages, helping them build their communication skills as well as working toward behavioural goals.
I have a deep love for working with children. Helping them learn, grow, and feel seen, loved, and confident is the best part of what I do. My work has strengthened my connection with Indigenous culture, giving me daily opportunities to learn new words, traditions, and perspectives. Supporting children in their speech and language development helps them build the voice and confidence they need to communicate, advocate for themselves, and take pride in their culture.
The relationships I’ve built with children, teachers, parents, and community members have been meaningful and impactful. I aim to act with humility, curiosity, and love in my interactions, which has allowed me to build positive, trusting connections. These bonds have deepened my understanding and compassion for the Indigenous population and strengthened my commitment to supporting and advocating for them both inside and outside of my work.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me outdoors, spending time with friends and family, or exploring the mountains. Growing up in Southern Alberta gave me a lifelong appreciation for places like Waterton, Crowsnest Pass, Banff, and Kananaskis, as well as nearby areas in BC and Montana. I love hiking, swimming, rafting, cliff jumping, and rock climbing, and I try to appreciate the beauty every season brings.
