Charlene Assenheimer
Charlene brings more than two decades of experience supporting children, youth, and families through her work as a teacher, school counsellor, principal, and psychologist. She holds degrees in Psychology and Education, along with a Master’s in Applied School and Child Psychology. She has extensive expertise in assessment, counselling, and interventions related to Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, and emotional well-being. Throughout her career, she has supported students with diverse backgrounds and needs, always with the goal of helping each child feel understood, capable, and empowered.
Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths based. She works closely with children, families, schools, and community partners to create practical strategies that support each child’s growth. Charlene believes solutions often lie within the individual, and that listening deeply is the key to uncovering them. She combines thorough assessment with evidence based strategies, ensuring that every plan is tailored to the child’s unique strengths, challenges, and support network.
A long time resident of the Barrhead area, Charlene and her husband have built their life on a mixed farm, raising their children and now enjoying time with their grandchild. She is proud to serve neurodiverse, LGBTQIA2S+, and Indigenous communities, and is committed to creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for all. Outside of work, Charlene values time with family, connecting with her community, and appreciating the beauty and resilience of rural Alberta life.
