Joshua Tuason
Joshua Tuason is a Provisional Psychologist based in Alberta, providing therapy and behavioural consulting services in Edmonton. He currently works with Alberta Therapy Co. as a Provisional Psychologist. His background also includes working with Alberta Health Services as an Addictions Counsellor in the Youth Stabilization Unit, supporting youth experiencing addictions and concurrent disorders. Joshua has also worked with Edmonton Catholic Schools as a Therapeutic Assistant and Behavioural Therapist, and completed his practicum with Indigenous Psychological Services, supporting private clients and students in a junior high school setting.
Joshua’s motivation for this work comes from a deep belief in people’s resilience and their ability to create meaningful change when they feel genuinely seen, supported, and understood. He is inspired by the strength people show in the face of adversity and by the impact of safe, respectful relationships. These experiences have shaped his commitment to creating spaces where dignity, cultural humility, and collaboration are central to the therapeutic process.
His approach is collaborative and grounded in each person’s unique experiences, values, and strengths. Joshua works to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and empowering, where each person’s voice is heard and choices are honoured. He draws from a range of therapeutic approaches within a client centered framework, including narrative, solution focused, mindfulness based, EMDR, and cognitive behavioural strategies. His areas of focus include stress, anxiety, cultural trauma, depression, self esteem, assertiveness, burnout, and relationship conflict.
Outside of work, Joshua enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, staying active through the gym and recreational team sports, and being outdoors, especially hiking.
