Johanna LaVallee, OT
Hello! My name is Johanna LaVallee, and I’m a pediatric Occupational Therapist with more than 20 years of experience supporting children and their families. At Tamaca, my work focuses on strengthening development, regulation, and independence through strengths based and relationship centered care. I specialize in fine motor development, emotional regulation, sensory processing, play based interventions, and school related functional skills. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and have spent the past two decades working in schools, private practice, and early intervention programs. My key skills include therapeutic play, developmental assessment, collaborative planning with families and educators, and creating individualized, meaningful strategies that support real progress for children.
My work is fueled by both personal and professional experience. As a mother of two amazing daughters—Zoe and Raya—I have seen firsthand how important it is to nurture a child’s growth through compassion, engagement, and empowerment. I believe deeply that every child deserves to feel confident, capable, and connected. My passion is helping children discover their strengths and build the skills they need to thrive, not only in therapy but in everyday life.
I work closely with families, school staff, and community partners to create supportive environments where children can succeed. My approach is playful, respectful, and collaborative. I strive to meet children where they are and move forward together at a pace that feels right for them. Whether we’re working on handwriting, self care, emotional regulation, or social interaction, I prioritize connection and trust in all aspects of my work.
Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, especially near water—it helps me recharge and stay grounded. I enjoy paddle boarding, playing and coaching volleyball, taking my dog for walks, and spending quality time with my family. These moments keep me balanced and bring renewed energy to my practice.
I’m honoured to be part of the Tamaca team and look forward to continuing to support children and families on their journeys.
