Jesse Howard
My name is Jesse Howard. I am a Métis registered provisional psychologist with a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. I am trained in EMDR and work from a client centered perspective, drawing on elements of psychodynamic, narrative, and solution focused approaches. My practice focuses on supporting children, parents, and families. With Tamaca, I work within Treaty 8 in High Level and currently support children and their families who are in care with Child and Family Services.
I chose to become a psychologist because I have seen firsthand how poverty, addiction, and mental health challenges can affect individuals, families, and communities. As a Métis person, I hold a deep commitment to supporting Indigenous communities and walking alongside those who face barriers to well being. Providing psychological support within Indigenous communities has been a deeply meaningful experience—built on trust, resilience, and culturally grounded healing. This work has shown me the strength of community driven care and has allowed me to honour Indigenous knowledge and traditions in mental health practice. My hope is to be a steady source of support and to contribute to stronger, healthier communities through compassionate and culturally aware care.
My practice is grounded in person centered ideals, where each client’s unique story, values, and goals guide the work we do together. I strive to create an environment of safety, respect, and genuine connection, where clients feel validated, understood, and gently challenged in ways that foster growth. I believe healing happens when people feel heard and empowered. Equality, comfort, care, and respect are core values that guide my work.
Outside of work, I spend most of my time with my wife and daughter. I enjoy being active outdoors, whether camping, hunting, fishing, or playing and coaching sports. Staying active helps me find balance and well being, and I value time and connection with family and friends.
