Candra Sexton, PT, BScPT
I am a Physical Therapist with more than 22 years of experience supporting children and families across Alberta, including rural, northern, and First Nation communities. I am dedicated to bringing high quality physical therapy services to families in rural and remote areas. My practice is grounded in family centered care, multidisciplinary collaboration, trust, and inclusion, guided by the belief that every child has the capacity to learn and grow.
I have extensive experience assessing and providing customized equipment such as manual and power wheelchairs, adaptive seating, walkers, standing frames, and personal care equipment. I also support families with postural care, home and vehicle accessibility solutions, and close collaboration with schools, vendors, and professional teams to ensure children with complex needs receive the equipment and support they require.
My passion lies in working with children with neurodevelopmental diagnoses and complex disabilities, as well as coaching therapists and families to best support each child. I also have a strong understanding of NIHB and Jordan’s Principle funding processes to help families access essential resources.
My professional development includes specialized training in postural care, wheelchair skills, dynamic movement, orthopedic management, and adaptive equipment. Alongside this expertise, my lived experience as a parent of a child with complex disabilities gives me a unique perspective and deepens my empathy and commitment to the families I serve.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, drinking a good chai, and travelling—especially to anywhere warm.
